This is the 15th of 80 provinces and I had a hard time picking pictures for this one because there are so many beautiful places here.  I believe that this place just moved to the top of my list of places to visit in the Philippines, that I haven’t really visited.  I hope that someone out there decides to use our MJ Tourist Service so I can go to this place and set up your reservations for you first hand.  Mar has been there many times, so I’ll let him go with me so I won’t get lost.

Bohol is an island province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region, consisting of Bohol Island and 75 minor surrounding islands. Its capital is Tagbilaran City. With a land area of 4,117.26 square kilometres (1,589.68 sq mi) and a coastline 261 kilometres (162 mi) long, Bohol is the tenth largest island of the Philippines. To the west of Bohol is Cebu, to the northeast is the island of Leyte and to the south, across the Bohol Sea is Mindanao

22 Aug – Of course I couldn’t get a hit count because the Internet was down all day.

I’m out in LolyKat now and it’s 0730.  Jay is getting all smelled up to go to school.  Robbie and her 2 oldest kids, Raven and Joshua, just left for work/school a couple of minutes ago in a tricycle.

Mar gave Lita P1000 and she ordered a tank of gas.  I think she should have done otherwise with the money because the gas was not essential, but she did it without consulting me first.

It’s still raining so I don’t know if the Internet service people will come by today or not.  I don’t know what the problem is because people walk around in the rain all the time here.  Oh ok, I’m being a little silly.  They have to work outside and it could be awhile.  It’s mostly just wet now, so maybe they will show up.

I just set out 19 bunches of bananas that we are suppose to be selling for P30 per bunch.

I liked it better when I was ‘stuck’ in the computer room all day.  It’s noisy out here.  The garbage/recycle truck that comes by a couple times a week has a loud speaker on it and it plays this annoying music when it is approaching.  They play the music so people can hear it and be sure that they get their trash or recycle out, depending on what pick up day it is.  I’ve been listening to that noise for at least the last 15 minutes and it’s still not in front of our house yet.  I’ve just been informed that today is trash day, not recycle day.  Whatever!

Maybe after everyone gets to school/work, it will be less noisy around here.  I wonder if it’s like this everyday.  I don’t remember hearing so much noise before.  Maybe it’s just me being extra sensitive to noise today.

Man I sure wish I had a 3rd floor so I could hide up there away from all the noise and commotion.  Does anyone out there have an extra $35,000 that they are not doing anything else with?  I need to build 2 more floors and make a restaurant here.  Just kidding y’all.  I don’t what y’all to think I’m soliciting money.  It’s just that if I would not have lost my job in Texas before moving here, all this would have been completed the way I wanted, but I didn’t account for getting laid off and the company closing down.  We are adjusting but it’s going to take still a little while longer.

Ramil just left with his 2 youngest children, Reverof and Fay, so I guess Fay decided to go to school today.

Lita and Leo are at the picnic table having breakfast.  I guess I will have peanut butter again.  I like peanut butter a lot, but I get tired of it being the only thing I have to eat at times.  I don’t hate it enough to start eating the fish though, or most of the food that they eat around here.  It won’t be September and maybe not even October, but by November all that will change.  I’ll be having things around here that I like and a good supply of it starting that month.  It’s one of the things I’m in the process of changing around here, now that I’m starting to figure out the rules here and location of places around here.

At 0844 I went back into the house to lay down for a few minutes.  The were working on the Pepsi mobile outside the front gate and as they were revving it up, the diesel fumes were coming into LolyKat.  I couldn’t stand it anymore so I left and was hoping that they’d be finished by the time I got back.

I laid down for about 18 minutes, then got up to make a couple of grilled peanut butter sandwiches.  By the time I got back out to the store, they were gone.

Lita is getting ready to go to the market.  She says she is only waiting because she wants to be sure the shrimp is in before she gets there.  I don’t know why the shrimp wouldn’t come in when all the other seafood comes in, but I don’t eat it, so I didn’t ask.

Useless Knowledge:  Slinky has gone in space shuttles to test zero-gravity on the physical laws that govern the mechanics of springs. In space, Slinky behaves like neither a spring nor a toy, but as a continuously propagating wave.

At a little past noon, the Internet people showed up.  It didn’t even take them very long to figure out what the problem was either.  One of the guys looked at my modem and told the other one to go out and get another one out of the truck.  I don’t know why they acted so surprised though.  I told the repair center several times what was going one with the lights on the modem.  The guy that replaced it said he did because my ADSL light was out.  I know I told them that at least 4 times on the phone, but they still acted surprised when they got here.  Whatever!  As long as it is fixed and it didn’t take very long.  They were in and out in about 15-20 minutes.  It’s working fine now and it’s not so slow either.

I added 2 more figures to the Philippine Mythology page.  One of them, the Tiyanak, sure does get a lot of attention on the Internet and in movies.

Mar, Ludy and Marianne were back again tonight.  They came by because Marianne made me some chicken rolls.  I like the ones that she makes.  On these she put bacon inside instead of ham, but that’s okay with me.  I might even be better.  They are just boneless pieces of chicken with bacon stuffed inside and rolled in cheese.  They are all uncooked so I can just cook them whenever I am ready.  It will be tomorrow before I eat them though because I am full for today.  Lita makes a similar one but she does her’s in reverse, cheese on the inside and bacon on the outside, plus Lita adds hot peppers (jalapenos if we have them) on the inside.  I like Lita’s better, but she hasn’t been able to make any recently. Marianne was sweet enough to make some for me.  She’s always nice to me.  No wonder she is my favorite Marianne in the whole world.

There is a tropical storm in the area.  It is not expected to hit here or even make landfall, but the wind is blowing pretty steadily out there.  It’s nothing major though.  The tropical storm is expected to be in the Philippines area of responsibility until Wednesday and they say it may hang around until Friday.

This past Sunday, August 21st, marked my 1 year anniversary of having started a blog.  I started out with a free blog and quickly converted to a paid one.  In case y’all would like to see it, here is a link to my first blog.  I don’t monitor it anymore though.  I wish I could add it to the beginning of this blog and keep it all together.  I guess I could copy/paste them, but then they’d be put in chronological order of input date and all that would be up here with the current stuff.  Anyway, maybe I’ll figure it out someday.  Here is the link:  http://ujjackson.wordpress.com/

Useless Knowledge:  Betsy Ross also ran a munitions factory from her basement. Yet her biggest claim to fame may be that she is one of the only real people along with Daniel Boone, ever to be immortalized as a Pez head.

Today in Philippine History

22 AUGUST

1896 – Supremo Andres Bonifacio y de Castro and fellow Katipuneros, Filipino revolutionaries against colonial Spain, exchange views on the Revolution during a general assembly in Kangkong, three days after the secret movementKataastaasang, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan nang  manga Anak nang Bayan (KKK) is discovered and arrests of suspected revolutionaries have been made; in two days’ time, Bonifacio and the Katipuneros he leads will transform the KKK into a revolutionary government to fight colonial Spain– the “lodges into battalions, his grandmasters into captains, and the supreme council of the Katipunan”; in three days’ time, the Katipuneros will win the first skirmish of the Himagsikan and in a week’s time, the general uprising against the enemy will be launched and bloodily fought.

1898 – The seat of the fledgling Philippine Republic is transferred by President Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy who issues a decree ordering his men to prepare in moving the capital and headquarters from Bacoor, Cavite, to Malolos Bulacan; the order came nine days after the Mock Battle of Manila made it clear to Aguinaldo the intent of the imperialist United States to invade the Philippines and that its officials, including Admiral George Dewey and Gen. Thomas Anderson had conned him into stupidly cooperating in the war against Spain, even to the point of ridiculously allowing the free entry of USsoldiers to the Southeast Asian archipelago; by February of the following year, the bloody and protracted Filipino-American War (1899-1914) will commence following its deliberate instigation by the Bald Eagle forces in line with the vile pre-arranged plan ordered by US President William McKinley in his bid to push the American Congress into annexing [translation: invading] the Philippines.
