Creation of Northwestern Samar Province Pushed

[smartads]

Samar Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento is proposing to create a new province to be named as Northwestern Samar.
He filed House Bill 8824 seeking the creation of a new province from the present province of Samar to be known as the province of Northwestern Samar.

Under the bill, the new province shall consist of Calbayog City, and the municipalities of Almagro, Gandara, Matuguinao, Pagsanghan, San Jorge, Santa Margarita, Sto. Niño, Tagapul-an, and Tarangnan.

“The creation of the Northwestern Samar will not reduce the population, land area and income of the mother province to less than the minimum requirements prescribed by the Local Government Code, considering that the remaining population of the mother province is still 448, 161 inhabitants, while the land area is 3,778.89 square kilometers,” Sarmiento said in filing the proposed “Charter of the Province of Northwestern Samar.”

  1. Hi UJ, I believe this way will allow increase in the size of the pie so to speak from the PH National Budget. Btw, thank you for your website safe to visit by your choice between http vs https.

    • I know that Samar could use more of the money the PH is getting. We seem to be the forgotten step-child around here.
Thank you for telling me about the “https”. I didn’t even think about that and didn’t even know how to do it. It made me figure it out and it wasn’t near as hard as I thought it was going to be.

  2. Why does Samar need another Province. He doesn’t explain this. Seams like he is trying to Create another Political Job for his self. If not mistaking he is timing out on Job he holds now.

    • That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw this. Just creating more political positions. Long time no see George. Are you ever coming back for at least a visit?

      • I don’t know when we are planning to return. The wife never tells me what she is planning until she has already set it up. But I don’t think it will be anytime this year.

        • Ok. I guess I’ll see you when I see you then. Take care of yourself and “the wife”.
